Why Idaho? A Love Story — With Place and Purpose

I get asked this a lot — especially after sharing that I was born in Australia and raised between there and the UK.

“Why Idaho?”

The short answer is: I moved here for love.
But the deeper truth? I stayed because I found something more.

Here in Idaho, I found beauty that feels both grounding and expansive.
I found a community that is kind, open, and real.
I found a place where I could live gently and offer something meaningful to the families I support.

As a nanny and family care provider in Boise, I often reflect on how the natural rhythm of this place mirrors what I value in caregiving — unhurried moments, space to notice, and an invitation to wonder.

Idaho’s wildflowers, wide skies, and changing seasons remind me of my own childhood — where small discoveries were the big magic. Now, I get to share that sense of awe with the children in my care. Whether it’s watching the leaves fall, finding bugs under rocks, or walking slowly through the quiet — these moments matter.

So yes, love brought me here.
But purpose — and this landscape — are what made it home.

I’d love to know: what part of our beautiful state has taken your breath away?
